Fast, Easy Growth Exists in Knowing Your Strengths

growth-chartIn yesterday’s post we heard  “The Most Interesting Man’s” take on careers and what to do about your weaknesses.  Educating yourself on your strengths is important as well.  The better you know what you are great at, the more you are able to guide your day and utilize your gifts for faster, easier professional and personal growth.

One of the hardest things for us to do is to take time to figure out what those strengths truly are.  In an article for College Recruiter I laid out some beginning steps to this discovery process.  These tools mainly consist of books and online assessments that can be done at any time and don’t talk a long time to do.  I would recommend going through at least three of the assessments as a simple first step in knowing more about how you work and what you are great at.

Another tool to utilize is simply outlining strengths, weaknesses and resources to see where you are at in your knowledge now and what knowledge is missing.  Do this one day in the next week before you do anything else in your day so that you don’t get distracted and you can get it done.

How have you been able to get a handle on strengths?  How have you been able to use your strengths to grow?
